Galawhistle Substation

Scottish Power |

A new build Substation for Scottish power, this project was delivered successfully by Neary Construction and included construction of around 40 RC foundations for 132/33kV substation equipment, construction of 2 x transformer bunds and around 120 concrete fence foundations and palisade fence erection. Further to this works included drainage works for both clean and oily water, Interceptor installation, Troughing, ducting works as well as access and enabling, pathway installation and kerbing works.

Bury & Whitefield Troughing and UTX Installation

Metrolink RATP Dev Ltd | Rail

In order to provide a suitable primary cable route for the proposed TMS signalling cables, Neary Rail were engaged by Metrolink RATP Dev Ltd, to extend, double and bypass sections of the existing lineside troughing route near to Bury and Whitefield stops to improve the capacity. At Bury, 408m of new lightweight concrete troughing was installed along with a 2 track open cut UTX, 3 UTX chambers and a 10ft buried duct connection into the island platform.

Rail Re-gauging Works Skew Bridge

Following an extended period of monitoring of the track transition slabs either side of a skew bridge near Wilkinson Street depot, it was decided that no further movement was occurring and that the track misalignment on the Southbound tram line could be corrected. Neary Rail first surveyed the site to establish the existing rail position and gauge, before returning on 3.

Civils Works Mansfield Woodhouse Cycle Hub

B&K Property Services (EMT) | Rail

During Spring 2016 Neary Rail completed a package of civils works to enable B&K Property Services to install a new cycle hub and shelter at Mansfield Woodhouse Station for East Midlands Trains. The works carried by the Neary Rail team included erecting lineside fencing to create a high street environment for the works, carrying out all groundworks including setting out, reducing the levels and establishing adequate falls for surface water run-off, new lighting duct installation, the installation of retaining walls and kerbing to the perimeter of the cycle hub, modifications to the existing metal handrail and the installation of a permanent paladine fence, powder coated to match with EMT station branding.

Ewehill Substation

Scottish Power | Construction

A large and complex civil engineering project completed for Scottish Power.The project involved the construction of the grid connection cable route and substation build for a 51Mw wind farm around 15km east of Lockerbie.

Whitehouse Tunnel Brickwork Repairs

Network Rail | Rail

In Spring 2016, Neary Rail completed a package of brickwork repairs in Whitehouse Tunnel, near Beaconsfield. Using our in house bricklayers, working on midweek nights, 15m2 of pinning and grouting and 378m2 of pointing was carried out to the brickwork within the tunnel.
