Rochdale Re-signalling Civils Works


Contracted directly to Network Rail, Neary Rail carried out a wide range of civils works to support the Rochdale Re-Signalling Scheme between Castleton and Smithy Bridge.

Initially in 2010 works involved lifting and shifting existing S&T troughing routes to enable erection of site hoarding at Rochdale East Junction.

Severance works later in 2010 included construction of signal post bases, UTXs including high security lids, SPT bases including walkways, drivers walkways, concrete trough route with lid locks, Loc bases with hardstanding surrounds, lineside signage, earth mats in concrete surrounds, palisade fencing and access gates with key clamp handrails.

In 2011 Neary returned to site for the pre-commissioning stage including construction of Access steps, palisade fencing and gates, 3 x REB, 1 x PSP and 6 x signal bases, Concrete trough route and 500m GRP raised route, Drivers walkways and rail signage, URX including surfacing reinstatement and Buried Duct routes including surface reinstatement.

All works were carried out in a green zone environment with both midweek day and weekend possessions utilised. Works were completed on schedule, with no accidents or incident.
