Partick-Essenside 132kV

Client | Prysmian (Ultimate Client: Scottish Power)

Division | Construction

In the period from Spring 2008 to Summer 2009 Neary Construction undertook duct laying and cable installation works for Prysmian Cables, working on behalf of Scottish Power, between Partick Substation and Essenside Compound in Glasgow.

The works consisted of installation of a double 132kV cable circuit over a 7,000 metre route length through an urban environment. The scope included all traffic management, duct installation and trench reinstatement, construction of joint bays and installation of xLPE cables.

The cable route was challenging; in addition to negotiating a multitude of existing services there was a requirement for a directional-drill under a major road and modifications to an abandoned tunnel under a canal.

Overall the project was very successful with all works being completed on programme and with a high degree of customer satisfaction.
