Bishopthorpe Wind Farm Contestable Grid Connection

Client | Wind Prospect / Baywa Renawables

Division | Construction

Design and build for the grid connection works for a wind farm with a maximum possible capacity of 20mW located in Northern England, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Including cable install and wind farm substation build and fit out.
A 7.3Km contestable grid connection linking the turbines with the nearest point of connection for the local grid network. The connection required the construction of a new 33kV metering substation situated at the wind farm.
The works also included the supply and installation of the LV Auxiliary power supply for the substation, as well as the switchgear and the production metering circuit breakers.
Extensive traffic management was required due to the majority of the route falling along public highway in a variety of environments both urban and rural. Neary construction undertook route planning and design, as well as negotiating with the local authorities for the relevant permits.
The project was completed in 2016.
