Works were undertaken to demolish an existing 132kV switchgear bay and single storey brick building and replace it with a new reinforced concrete alternative.

The works were hampered throughout by the presence of a very high water table and 24 hour pumping was required throughout the duration of the construction phase of the works.

The entire site was raised 600mm in order to clear the new equipment from the underlying water. Some of the works included the construction of a main transformer bund and 5m high firewall and associated switchgear foundations, the installation of a new drainage system and the installation of new substation perimeter palisade fencing.
