Metrolink Feeder Cable Renewal

Working closely with Metrolink RATP Dev Ltd, over a 2 month period, Neary Rail renewed the 750v feeder cables at 8 substations on the Metrolink network.

Each week the feeder cables at one substation were renewed.

MRDL took a sub-station off line, disconnected and pulled the feeder cable ends out of the sub-station building on the Monday morning.

Then, working days and nights, Neary Rail disconnected the other end of the feeder cables from the switching stanchions (on nights under isolation), removed the old cables off site, carried out any necessary route improvements and pulled in the new feeder cables (on days) before terminating one end of the new cables at the top of the switching stanchion and testing (on nights under isolation).
Over the weekend, MRDL terminated the new feeder cables inside the substation, switched the sub-station back on line and tested.

At 2 locations the works included removing the redundant feeder cables off overhead gantries and installing new buried duct or hollow bearers for the new feeder cable.

Neary Rail provided the PIC, OHL Switchers, Electrician, Supervision and Labour from our in house team and sister company A D Antrobus (Electrical Contracting).
