Manchester ALH Installation

Working for Metrolink RATP Dev Ltd, over a 4 month period, Neary Rail installed over 3500m of ALH rubber infill along the embedded tram tracks in Manchester City Centre.

All works were completed on midweek nights in 3.5 or 5 hour possessions. Neary Rail arranged all necessary traffic management, lane and road closures. The work comprised removing and disposing of the failed rubber infill, deepening the slot alongside the embedded rail before cleaning, drying and priming the slot, then mixing and pouring the ALH Series 6 rubber before adding bauxite to provide anti-slip properties. The ALH could only be installed in dry conditions and Neary Rail had to manage the weather risk within our price. We therefore had to carefully plan the preparation and installation shifts around the weather forecasts and traffic management restrictions to ensure that no downtime was incurred. Bespoke A Frame tents were constructed to enable works to take place in light rain.
