Earlstoun Transformer Complex

Client | Siemens (Ultimate Client: Scottish Power)

Division | Construction

The works involved the removal of an existing 132kV Transformer (by others) and then our subsequent excavations and core drilling in to deep bedrock. The rock slopes were then retained with a specialist Rock Netting system to ensure the integrity of the equipment at the foot of the slope.

The new transformer complex consisted of new oil retention bunds both for the main TX and the Auxiliary TX and associated equipment foundations. The main transformer was then enclosed with a block wall noise enclosure (rendered) and roofed with a combination of structural steel; bison floor beams, in-situ concrete and Sarnafil membrane. A RC Retaining wall was also incorporated into the existing fence line.

The bunds where connected to a new drainage system complete with an oil retention interceptor.
